Dogs

All our canine guests get a minimum of 5 hours playtime a day.  As they are pack animals, most dogs do best in a social environment and as a result we socialise dogs and companion board where possible.  Socialising is at our discretion, we cannot guarantee the ability to socialise dogs on any or every stay due to the variety of guests within our facility.  Guests are always supervised whilst socialising and safety is our number one priority.  All our guests can be accommodated for playtime either individually or in groups at the same time.

A majority of our exercise areas are natural grass and deco with minimal areas of natural dirt.  We also have astro turf runs available for allergy dogs.  All our runs have small paddling ponds and have natural and artificial shade.  We don’t use sand on our property due to its high risk for parasite infestations and due to its temperature retaining properties.

Our facility is specially built to maintain the cool in summer and heat in winter.  We don’t use air conditioners as, like humans, dogs are susceptible to airborne pollutants / allergens and illnesses with the use of air-conditioning.  Temperature is monitored however and overhead sprinklers are used on very hot days.

Cats

All our rooms are large walk-in style enclosures with a couple of ledges, a scratch post and a nook for hiding.  Our standard rooms are 2m x 1m enclosures with full divider walls to prevent intimidation from neighbouring cats.  We have some more private low light enclosures available for the more timid cats.  Our Deluxe enclosures are large double-sized enclosures featuring an open air section with hammocks overlooking the deck area.  We also have one standard Jungle and one deluxe Jungle room which has additional ledges, ladders and nets for climbing and playing.

All our cats are invited to roam individually in the central play area daily whilst their room is serviced, during this time they have one on one attention with our staff and can play on the larger play area.  We also have music audible in the cattery so our feline guests feel right at home.

Our cattery is cooled with ‘Cool a Roof’ reflective roof paint which assists us in keeping an optimal temperature for our guests.  We minimise the use of air conditioners as, like humans, cats are susceptible to airborne pollutants / allergens and illnesses with the use of air-conditioning.

General

Here at All For Paws Pet Retreat hygiene and health is of utmost importance and we clean with veterinary grade disinfectants and have strict health and hygiene protocols.  For this reason we do not have any carpet in the enclosures and the inside enclosures all have a solid wall divider between them. Current vaccination (C5 / F3) is essential as are flea, tick and worming treatments.

Our facilities have been purpose built for North QLD, we are cyclone rated and secure and have a documented evacuation plan should the need ever arise.

We’re 100% solar powered (unless it’s a really, really cloudy or rainy day).  We recycle 100% of our dog droppings into the gardens around the retreat, and we use recycled paper kitty litter in our cattery, adding to our green credentials.
